Leobo Private Reserve is the result of many things. A British couple’s passion and vision to create something remarkable, certainly, but also a yearning to get away from the structured, ‘tick-off-the-big-five’ safari experience.
Leobo is about living among South Africa’s stupendous open country, rather than merely visiting it, and in considerable style.
The estate sits in its own 20,000 acres. Every inch is for the exclusive use of your party, alongside your neighbours: giraffe, antelope, zebra, hippo, leopard and buffalo, wandering the estate as nature first planned it.
- 20,000 acre estate
- Three-suite Observatory
- Swimming pool
- Sleeps up to 25 people
- Nine additional chalets
The main house sleeps up to six adults and three children, and there are separate cottages for further guests.
Leobo’s décor captures the vibe of the estate. You dine beneath a ‘chandelier’ of a hippo skeleton. The main reception space has a ceiling stitched together from wildebeest skins, and the leadwood doors are etched by craftsmen in Zanzibar. Firepits, four-posters draped in cool linens, a Jacuzzi on the roof – every creature comfort is here.
Leobo also features a show-stopping observatory, complete with a NASA-grade telescope. There is no light pollution here, and the night sky blazes with stars and planets. Naturally, Leobo is fully staffed. A resident chef awaits your instructions, and is delighted to contribute suggestions of his own, based on local produce and delicacies. You won’t have to give a thought to housekeeping of any kind, and your team is ready to create your days in any way you wish.
LEOBO TO THE MAX
The Leobo team takes real pride in showing guests this this beautiful estate and the riches it offers. They enjoy learning what makes you tick and creating extraordinary (and even life-changing) experiences just for you.
Perhaps a drive on the trail of leopards or tracking buffalo, pausing for a gourmet al fresco lunch set up by the staff. Or sleep out in a treetop deck above the hippo lake, horse ride among giraffe and zebra, fish or kayak through the gorge, or take an enriching tour with a guide in local archaeology. Or indeed ride aboard Leobo’s own chopper, for breathtaking aerial vistas of wildlife in all its glory, and explore deeper into the reserve. Leobo offers an exhilarating and safe experience, and is an unforgettable introduction to wildlife for younger children as well.
