THE PETER PAN CUP SWIMMING RACE

English eccentricity at its finest: swimmers from the Serpentine Club chisel through the ice – sometimes literally – for this bizarre 100-yard race. It has taken place on Christmas morning every year since 1864. Sadly, the marrow-chilling swim itself is only open to members (like you, we were raring to leap in) but spectators are very welcome.
