Although we have been fortunate to receive instructions on numerous exquisite properties over the years, just occasionally one stands out as being particularly fine.
Indeed, the 18th century Palazzo Nasciaro on the Mediterranean island of Malta is actually classified as a National Monument. Its restoration follows a rich past that has seen this Maltese landmark serve as everything from a residence for generations of families, to a school, a police headquarters and even a wartime shelter and maternity unit.
Now the palazzo has just emerged from complete restoration: a labour of love, craft and indeed patience as a seven-year journey combined both artful restoration and highly sensitive modernization.
A full-time stone carver was required for over three years; the curvilinear bathroom fittings were sourced from London and Paris; and all-new technologies, from communications and digital entertainment to air conditioning and solar panelling, are cleverly hidden away.
With its imposing main entrance, rococo frontage, a fountain in the central courtyard and a panoramic roof terrace, the palazzo is once again resplendent, and stands ready to serve as a sumptuous family residence.
