REGENT STREET MOTOR SHOW
'The mile of style' that is Regent Street will be shut to traffic on Saturday 31 October as some rather more exciting and distinguished cars fill the road instead.
The Regent Street Motor Show is the largest free-to-view motor show in the UK, showcasing an impressive 125 years of motoring history.
On show will be everything from pre-1905 veteran cars, to state of the art cars today, and everything in between. Thousands attended last year, and the event is free. Until, that is, some of Regent Street’s legendary shops catch your eye.
When: 31 October.
Where: Regent Street, W1
Tubes: Piccadilly Circus & Oxford Circus
Admission: Free
LONDON RESTAURANT FESTIVAL: RESTAURANT HOPPING
Throughout October more than 350 restaurants around London are taking part in the London Restaurant Festival.
Some are offering menus from as little as £10. Or, if you want to extend your knowledge of what’s out there, the restaurant-hopping tours are a perfect opportunity to try a small course across six restaurants in a single session.
Options include hops around Chinatown, Carnaby Village, Victoria or Seven Dials (which includes Marcus Wareing's Tredwell's).
When: 1-31 October.
Where: Citywide

THE LONDON PORRIDGE CHAMPIONSHIPS
London is usually pretty autumnal by mid-October, so the Rude Health London Porridge Championships (yes, really) are nicely timed.
It seems that porridge brings out strong feelings among its aficionados, and the championships are designed to settle on who makes the finest.
Keen home cooks will take on professional chefs and food writers, with Frances Quinn, winner of the Great British Bake Off, on the judging panel. You’ll be able to taste the entries and pick up a sample pack of oats to take home.
When: Friday 16 October from 10.00
Where: The Whole Foods Market in the Barkers Building
Tubes: High Street Kensington
