Tenure: To be advised
The château is a mainly 16th century building of three storeys plus a tower occupying a south-facing plot, raised above the historic village of Samoëns, between the church and the botanical gardens.
The accommodation comprises approximately 450sqm with gardens spread over six tiers that total around 1500 sqm.
The building was extended and partially modernised in 1972. The current owners underwent a complete refurbishment; replacing the boiler, creating en suite bath or shower rooms in all bedrooms, replacing the kitchen and redecorating everywhere in 2006 to 2008.
Accessing via the front door leads you into a spacious entrance hall with vaulted ceilings and separate coat storage room. This leads into the large dining room with ornate plaster ceiling which in turn leads into the bright modern kitchen, which was installed in 2008.
The main kitchen is arranged around a large central island and contains 4 ovens, American-style fridge freezer, 5-ring gas hob and double dishwasher.
It offers a vast array of storage and all work surfaces are of unpolished granite. The second, back kitchen has a second fridge and freezer, another dish washer and a two ring ceramic hob. It has a small seating area and more storage. Off the back kitchen is a WC with wash hand basin.
The kitchen opens on to a large south-facing terrace with views over the church.
Leaving the entrance hall by the original stone staircase, which winds through the house, on the first half landing is the smallest of the eight bedrooms with an ensuite shower room.
Up again to the main living room floor. Most of this floor is taken up with a series of three interconnecting living rooms. The current owners have arranged them as a progression of formality, the first being the most formal and the innermost room being a TV room/library/den. The first two rooms are linked by a central arch, the second and third by a pair of arches either side of a double sided fireplace.
Leading off the main spaces are the original chapel to the building which is now used as a reading room, a bar, a laundry and a WC with hand basin. At this level there is a door to the upper four tiers of the South facing garden.
The second floor contains six of the remaining seven bedrooms. The master bedroom has an en suite with a walk-in shower and a Jacuzzi bath. It has a triple aspect to the South, North and East. It forms part of a two room suite with a second bedroom with en suite bathroom with bath with shower over. Three further bedrooms, two on the South side of the building and one on the North have en suites with bath/shower combinations and the seventh, South side, has a shower only.
The second floor also has a garden door. Plumbing and electricity to install a hot tub outside this door have been arranged.
Stairs lead up from the second floor corridor to the top tower room. The landing houses a small gym area, a sauna and a shower for those using the sauna. The tower bedroom is a mirror of the master bedroom below with a triple aspect and bathroom with walk in shower and Jacuzzi bath.
